i can't download it either....or rather i did...but suspiciously quickly. i only get a few seconds.

so i can't really comment...except to say bravo to the guys for continuing posting work, even though it seems to be fashionable to rip it to shreds.

also...some comments not particularly pointed at anyone.

a bit monty python?...sounds like a compliment to me.

insight into humans?...i don't care. if every film was made with "depth" they would all be the same.

crossing the line?...so what...rule number 1. you must break all the rules. (i have no idea what i mean by that)

and...at a tangent, el mariachi is crap. dreadful music, unbelievable characters, far too long and basically a bit rubbish.
find me someone who is not interested in "film" who likes it...go on..i dare you. show el mariachi to your average film goer and they will get bored of fat mexicans within minutes.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Bullshit.

About three people have slagged windowslaws entire back catalogue off.

If anything, it?s fashionable to dig his particular brand of filth?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I think it?s pretty wanky.

I know loads of peeps that get little from the film, but get a lot from the achievement attained from its low-fi production.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yeah everyone says they dont like the movie cos they wanna be just as cool as me

a bit monty python?...sounds like a compliment to me.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">He was refering to the fact it was strange and off beat not that it was cult comedy that will be loved for generations to come.

insight into humans?...i don't care. if every film was made with "depth" they would all be the same.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Im sorry but that is stupid. Its when films lack depth that they all become the same... when the hero and the villan are cardboard cutouts, when generic action is used to replace dialogue and character development. Depth makes things more complex thats why its more interesting to watch and harder to make. You seem to assume all movies that have depth are the same, its the total opposite way round. Depth is what gives a movie its individuality, its own vioce.

crossing the line?...so what...rule number 1. you must break all the rules. (i have no idea what i mean by that)
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">what is this rebel thing that comes out of people? Fuck the rules! Down with them all. We do what we like!

Urm no... there are instances when breaking the rules do make for an inprovement, but its not as often as everyone makes out. This rule about crossing the line is there becos its if you break it 95% of the time your movie will instantly suffer, the audience will be dragged out of whatever mood you have gotten them into. And this is besides the piont, he didnt break the rule.

and...at a tangent, el mariachi is crap. dreadful music, unbelievable characters, far too long and basically a bit rubbish.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">maybe ive missed something, but whats this got to do with his film?

right lets clear this up.

i am aware of the 180 rule/crossing the line/running a fraction whatever you wanna call it.

i am also aware that the jolly frog is a one shot film. but in the context of the film, as it is a dialogue scene (in my opinion), the line is actually crossed. whether this matters or not or whether in dialogue scenes terms this is an accurate description it doesn't negate the fact that a line is crossed.

this was originally claimed using an exclamation mark and my subsequent post didn't clear this up.

so this was an attempt to clear it up. if it didin't work i will obviously realise as i will get to sift through more vitriol!

ps who else is looking forward to 24 in february?

that was fun!

ahhhh beloved, i still think strange and off beat is complimentary...certainly better than normal and mainstream.

and why do you refuse to see the other point of view? you like what you like, but don't assume everyone will agree with you. i know plenty of people who love cardboard cutout characters and generic action, and who would shy away from films described as deep or complex.....are all of those people stupid as well? (did you just say my opinion was stupid by the way? twat!)

sorry you didn't spot the humour in my crossing the line comment...i thought is was pretty clear that it was a light hearted comment due to the bracketed bit at the end. or was it all too deep and complex for you?...i don't even know what crossing the line is...i'm only a composer!

and for the last bit....do you not know what a tanget is?

(i can't believe you said my opinion was stupid...pillock)

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">i dont assume anything, you are the one assuming that i (someone you have never met) thinks in this way. And if youre so willing to stand up for the notion that everyone has thier own opinions which they are free to hold then why am i pillock for thinking one of your remarks was stupid? Surely that is as much a valid opinion as thinking depth in films makes them generic.

i know plenty of people who love cardboard cutout characters and generic action, and who would shy away from films described as deep or complex.....are all of those people stupid as well?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You have completely misunderstood what i wrote...you said depth made films generic, i said that is stupid (becos in my opinion that defys logic of course depth makes things more varied). At no piont what so ever did i say it was stupid to like cardboard characters or less depth movies. Kindly stop putting things in my mouth please.

sorry you didn't spot the humour in my crossing the line comment...
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Im not so completely shit at interacting with other humans that i failed to notice that was never intended seriously. But whether its a joke or not, this idea that film rules are a waste of time is one that is put foward alot and its one i disagree with.

and for the last bit....do you not know what a tanget is?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I was just confused as to why you brought up the old Rodriguez is crap debate completely out of the blue. It wasnt like anyone has even alluded to him and Once upon a time in mexico as far as i know. But hey... i havent memorised every single word of everyones reply so maybe ive missed something.

I think it would help, Windowslaws, if you started a new username to differentiate who is who. Or at least sign the messages. It's getting very confusing.
